Iran Reports Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a "massive" and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is uncertain and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites associated with the the regime, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported wreckage fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
