Paceman Gus Atkinson Adds to England's Injury Worries.

'Major setback' for the touring side after Atkinson leaves the field due to a hamstring issue.

Gus Atkinson further complicated the injury concerns plaguing England when he left the field during Saturday's play in the Melbourne Test against Australia.

The right-arm seamer experienced discomfort in his left hamstring after the final ball in his spell on Saturday.

The England team reported Atkinson had experienced "tightness" and was to take time off the field in order to be assessed "over the next few hours".

The series decider of the series in Sydney gets underway this coming Sunday.

The visitors have been without key quicks Mark Wood with a knee problem and Jofra Archer to a side strain on the current trip.

Matthew Fisher was called up as cover for Wood.

His form was underwhelming in the opening two Tests, claiming a mere three wickets.

He was left out for the Adelaide match, only to be brought back for the Melbourne Test in the playing XI.

The county bowler showed better form in Melbourne, bagging two scalps with the ball, and scoring 28 runs with the bat being one of only three teammates to reach double figures.

After bowling one over in Australia's second innings, he returned on Saturday morning and had nightwatchman taken by the wicketkeeper.

However, on the final ball of that over, he bowled a variation to the batsman and suddenly grabbed for his hamstring.

Gus Atkinson was recalled for the Boxing Day Test having missed of the third.
