Soccer Expert Sutton Takes On Artist Olly Murs in Top Flight Predictions

The Gunners' 10-game victorious streak came to an end by Sunderland before the global break, however can the Premier League leaders recover against local foes Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still manage to win."

The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, versus artificial intelligence, fans and a variety of special visitors.

In the twelfth round, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

Murs' new album, the new release, is out on Friday.

Football and Family Life

Olly is a talented footballer as well as a accomplished singer and has been a featured player of multiple charity football games down the years - but he is not intending a professional return as a player.

"{I recently played in a benefit match the other evening for a mate of mine," he explained. "My team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my child or son chooses to play instead."

Murs and his spouse Amelia Tank have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to emulate his dad by becoming their manager.

"I won't force football on our kids but I've already told my wife that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be coaching their Saturday football side," he said.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously owned a football club for a period too.

"My father did it with us when I was a child, which is probably where I inherited it. He managed our team for several seasons and had great fun with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues may have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's comeback from fitness issues but their attack is already more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this fixture will be fairly tight, however. The Clarets are well organised and their only home losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

It smells of a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.

Sutton's forecast: 1-2

Olly's prediction: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

The Cherries have been defeated in their previous couple matches - although both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, the Hammers secured back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they do look strong again.

The Hammers' only away victory this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham boss Nuno was still Forest manager.

So, what exactly do I predict here - will it be West Ham extending their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth responding?

I am going to choose Bournemouth, because I believe what happened against Villa was a blip.

Sutton's forecast: 2-0

Olly's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the season started, but they have surprised a few people under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four matches.

My son advised me to get Brentford striker Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, guess what, I didn't listen.

The forward will likely score again on Saturday but I am still not going to pick him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had great success on the road this term, and the Seagulls are always decent at home. Brentford will attempt to attack on the counter-attack but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's team pose much more of a threat.

The analyst's forecast: 2-1

The singer's prediction: This could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a lot of goals but it in reality proves to be quite tight. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a huge fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six matches.

They have got lots of talent in their squad but it still seems like they could be dragged into a relegation battle.

As for Sunderland, indeed they are the unexpected success of the top flight campaign so far.

The away side's performance in the two-all draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not witnessed anyone else rough up the Gunners like that this season, and they were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing to do to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously able of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they beat Chelsea at the end of October.

But I am not going to choose that. Instead, I really need to carry on opposing Sunderland with my predictions. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their good results because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.

Considering the home side's home record, the only team they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be absolutely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to predict they will pick up three much-needed points.

The expert's forecast: 1-0

The guest's choice: I'm aware Sunderland are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a bad streak... but Fulham have still been decent at home this season. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough fixture to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but could they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
