The Renowned Musician Encourages Public Help to Send Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A campaign is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The effort aims to send support to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Chance for Support and an "Surprise Victory"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a category of their own.”
Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's defiant core message.
“It occupies a profound significance for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we seek to lead a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Contributing Musicians
The track was produced after a solidarity show held in late summer. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to scheduling overruns.
The impressive roster of artists featured on Lullaby includes a selection of prominent voices from the industry. All took part in the benefit event, which managed to collect a substantial amount for relief efforts.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was produced by a trio of talented individuals. The track showcases a fusion of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.
The organizers behind the initiative have emphasized that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“We haven't set a rigid aim,” a representative said. “We will pursue as much as possible. Of course, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”
The situation in the area was described as its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of buildings said to be in ruins or severely impacted.
“Given that reality, a few million doesn’t make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is first of all raising awareness for this issue and proving that another narrative exists.”
The track is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a digital service from later in the month.
