The Two Fatalities Named in the Ivy League School Attack as Authorities Continue Manhunt for Gunman.

The pair of scholars who died in the weekend's violent attack at Brown University had tributes paid to them on Monday – while an intensive search for their killer persisted following the release by authorities in Rhode Island of the single suspect questioned in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was described as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, as stated by the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a gathering on Sunday.

Cook was vice-president of Brown’s chapter of the College Republicans organization, the group said. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also expressed condolences online, stating: “Words cannot express. Keeping in mind her kin and peers, especially her parents.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the Ivy League university, according to relatives.

The victim's identification was confirmed by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. His ambitions were lofty of entering the field of neurosurgery and helping people,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a memorial statement.

The Shooting Incident

Nine other people were hurt in the weekend shooting in the engineering building of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Law enforcement reported by the end of Sunday that a man aged 24 detained in a police operation at a Hampton Inn about approximately 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“A perpetrator remains free,” stated Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you need to change course and head another way, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last day or so.”

Community Anxiety

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “It is expected to provoke new worry for our community”.

The shooter began shooting inside a classroom in the engineering facility on over the weekend, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a 9mm pistol, a police source reported to the Associated Press.

Officers that searched the lodging recovered a pair of pistols and two ammunition clips when the person of interest was arrested, the news agency reported.

The Wounded Victims

Among those wounded, a single scholar was released from the hospital, stated Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in critical but stable condition, and another was critically ill, police said on Sunday.
